SAP is systematically driving forward the integration of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Datasphere. The first tangible result of this strategy is Seamless Planning, which provides a seamless planning solution in the cloud. Seamless Planning was published as a controlled release in the fourth quarter of 2024. General availability is planned for QRC 1/2025.
Seamless Planning is an innovative approach to planning integration between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere. This connection is intended to simplify the planning process and provide a standardized user interface. Seamless Planning makes it possible to save SAC data models in SAP Datasphere and use the data in real time. The model structure is defined in SAP Analytics Cloud, which is also where the data model metadata is stored. However, users can choose SAP Datasphere as the storage location when creating new data models or public dimension tables or importing content. In this way, planning and corporate steering are carried out in real time on the basis of semantically enriched data.
The aim of Seamless Planning is to speed up the planning process, proactively steer the company and promote collaboration between the different departments by giving everyone involved access to harmonized planning data. Seamless Planning creates a common data basis for planning and analysis based on a simplified, centralized and managed data landscape, thereby reducing data redundancies.
Seamless Planning is only available for SAC tenants running on SAP HANA Cloud. There are also other requirements for the integration to work. For example, SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere must be located in the same data center and use the same identity provider. It is also necessary for the SAC tenant and the SAP Datasphere tenant to be connected to each other in a 1:1 relationship.
Seamless Planning enables companies to seamlessly exchange data across planning domains. The results are simpler data modeling and more efficient data management. SAP plans to provide further functionalities for Seamless Planning in order to make even better use of the strengths of the interaction between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Datasphere in the future.
