SAP Business Suite 7 and SAP S/4HANA were the first to start, now SAP BW 7.5 and SAP BW/4HANA are following suit. SAP has announced to extend the maintenance for both BW versions. For SAP BW 7.5 as part of SAP NetWeaver 7.5, mainstream support will continue until the end of 2027. Extended maintenance is possible until 2030. For SAP BW/4HANA, SAP guarantees maintenance at least until 2040.

Logical decision
The measures are the consequence of the maintenance extensions announced in February for SAP Business Suite 7 (mainstream maintenance until 2027, extended maintenance until 2030) and SAP S/4HANA (until 2040). This decision also makes it necessary to adjust the support periods for other products in the SAP portfolio that are closely related to SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Suite 7.
Consequently, SAP has aligned the maintenance strategy of SAP BW 7.5 and SAP NetWeaver 7.5 with support for SAP Business Suite 7. This is to ensure a secure transition to SAP S/4HANA for companies. It means that SAP BW 7.5 will remain in mainstream maintenance until the end of 2027. Extended maintenance is available until 2030 - at the same conditions as for SAP Business Suite 7.
Support for SAP BW/4HANA until 2040
SAP fully aligns the product and innovation strategy for SAP BW/4HANA with the SAP S/4HANA roadmap. This means that SAP BW/4HANA will be maintained at least until the end of 2040. During this period, new releases will be published regularly. In addition, innovations around the Business Warehouse will continue to be realized exclusively in BW/4HANA, after SAP BW 7.5 has been in maintenance mode since 2016.
Older BW versions will be discontinued at the end of 2020
SAP BW 7.4 and other older BW versions are not affected by the recent decision to extend maintenance. Mainstream support for these BW products will end on December 31, 2020 and extended maintenance will not be offered. There are separate maintenance strategies for existing add-ons of SAP BW 7.5 and SAP BW/4HANA. They are communicated via the Product Availability Matrix (PAM).
