High-quality master data is an essential prerequisite for efficient and smooth business processes. With SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), companies can improve their master data quality and keep it high in the long term. Participants will learn which factors make up high-performance master data management and which developments are currently shaping this sector at IBsolution’s 5th SAP MDG Summit on June 17, 2021. Participation in the virtual event is free of charge.
The agenda of the SAP MDG Summit 2021 holds exciting discussions, presentations and field reports from the master data environment. Speakers include experts from SAP and IBsolution as well as master data specialists from well-known companies who will report on how the implementation of SAP MDG can be achieved in a short time with the help of predefined processes, how data migration projects can be successfully implemented, and why the future of SAP master data management lies in the cloud.
The SAP MDG Summit 2021 will start with the keynote “Data quality management in the cloud with SAP” by Alexander Röckle. The Head of Platform & Technologies at SAP Germany will give an insight into SAP’s future master data strategy and present the current roadmap. Afterwards, the three companies Hirschmann Automotive, ZF Friedrichshafen and EagleBurgmann report on how they have successfully mastered the challenges in the area of master data management in joint projects with IBsolution.
Austrian automotive supplier Hirschmann Automotive has put its master data processes on a new basis with the help of SAP MDG. A special feature of the project: Hirschmann Automotive used the Standard Process Package by IBsolution. Thanks to the best-practice content included, it was possible to put the operational SAP MDG system live in just six months. In agile sprints, the system is now being adapted to the specific requirements from day-to-day business. Nicole Niegelhell, Digitalization Manager & Master Data Governor at Hirschmann Automotive, will report on this at the SAP MDG Summit 2021.
High data quality also plays an important role in the migration to SAP S/4HANA. For this reason, ZF Friedrichshafen placed a special focus on the processing and maintenance of high-quality material master data as part of the “Business Digital Excellence” initiative. Harald Schuller, MDM Applications & Service Manager at ZF Friedrichshafen, presents the technical solutions with which the technology group ensures data quality.
A key characteristic of high data quality is that there are no duplicate data records in the system. For this reason, EagleBurgmann, a specialist in industrial sealing solutions, used the introduction of SAP Business Partner in the run-up to SAP S/4HANA system conversion to carry out extensive data cleansing. As a result, the quality of customer and supplier master data was noticeably improved. In his presentation at the SAP MDG Summit 2021, Alexander Schmid, Director Product Lifecycle, Master Data & Project Management at EagleBurgmann, also elaborates on how other SAP systems that already follow the Business Partner concept were integrated into the project.
Once a company has achieved a high level of data quality, the next step is to maintain this level permanently. If there are not enough resources or sufficient know-how available for such monitoring within the company, it is possible to obtain the corresponding tools as a service. The data management specialists at CDQ offer “data quality as a service”. Tobias Pentek, Head of Community & Innovation at CDQ, and Peter Ertl, Business Development Manager at CDQ, explain what this means and what role automated technologies can play in this context.
An important factor in ensuring high data quality is functioning data governance. As a holistic system, it covers people, processes and tools in master data management. Data governance creates a strategic and organizational framework to manage data in a uniform and disciplined manner. At the SAP MDG Summit 2021, Matthias Arlt, Project Manager at IBsolution, will address how data governance helps meet regulatory and legal compliance requirements.
The entire IT deployment is increasingly shifting to the cloud. Master data management cannot escape this trend either. Accordingly, with Private Cloud Edition (PCE), SAP has an additional deployment option for SAP Master Data Governance in its portfolio. Functionally identical to the on-premise variant, SAP MDG PCE offers companies higher availability and flexibility as well as lower risk due to lower upfront investments. Attendees at the SAP MDG Summit 2021 will hear more from Wolfgang Epting of the SAP Center of Excellence – Platform & Technologies, Middle & Eastern Europe.
One thing is certain: the importance of high data quality will continue to increase in the future and contribute even more than before to a company’s success. That’s why the final panel discussion, moderated by Helge Sanden, editor-in-chief of IT-Onlinemagazin, will focus on the future of master data management. Wolfgang Epting and Oliver Donner, Managing Director of IBsolution, will be among those taking part. The experts will discuss how master data management will develop in the coming years and how companies must design their master data processes in the future in order to derive maximum benefit from their data.
