Reporting and planning systems as well as data analyses play a prominent role today as a reliable basis for business decisions of companies. The Business Intelligence Summit 2020 offered the opportunity to gain a compact overview of current trends and future developments in the field of BI. About 120 participants attended the virtual event of IBsolution on June 18, 2020.
The Heilbronn-based SAP consulting company was able to gain a top-class speaker for the keynote at the start of the event: Under the title #GiveDataPurpose, Ramin Mirza, Head of Platform & Technologies at SAP Germany, explained how companies can determine the value of their data and transform the insights gained into valuable capital for the future. In this context, he also explained the interaction of the Intelligent Enterprise Suite with the Business Technology Platform.
Customer interviews and expert presentations showed participants the entire range of SAP’s BI portfolio. While the fashion company s.Oliver and the Optima packaging group, a medium-sized producer of packaging machines, demonstrated the migration scenarios they used to introduce SAP BW/4HANA, the presentation by the Refratechnik Group, a manufacturer of refractory materials, focused on the implementation of uniform group reporting using SAP Analytics Cloud.
Two experts from IBsolution provided know-how about current business intelligence products and functionalities of SAP and illustrated the tools in live demos. Specially developed for the cloud, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud offers a platform for the creation of data models and the integration of data. With embedded analytics in the context of SAP S/4HANA, reporting is changing radically – not least because the full power of the HANA database is being used for it. At the same time, users have access to modern front-end tools, such as SAP Analytics Cloud.
Guided by the experts and speakers of the presentations, the participants of the BI Summit 2020 discussed current issues concerning the business warehouse together at the Business Speed Coachings. On the one hand, they were able to exchange views on current challenges with like-minded people and, on the other hand, take advantage of the interactive opportunity for networking.
The event was concluded by a panel discussion with Helge Sanden, editor-in-chief of the IT-Onlinemagazin, Lothar Henkes, Vice President Product Management SAP EDW at SAP Germany, and Loren Heilig, Managing Director of IBsolution. Among other things, they dealt with the question in which direction SAP’s BI strategy is developing and what role SAP Data Warehouse Cloud plays in it. The basic tenor was that almost all companies are facing the same challenge: They must become data-driven companies. The way to get there is through an overall strategy that gets the most out of the available data while at the same time taking into account the applicable governance regulations.
