IBsolution wins #Hack2Build of SAP

At the event “Hack2Build – Beyond a Hackathon” (April 13–20, 2021), participating SAP partners developed side-by-side extensions for SAP S/4HANA. IBsolution presented to the jury a showcase that automates administrative workflows in the sales quote process through the interaction of SAP S/4HANA, SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Business Technology Platform – and was chosen as the winner of the competition.

 

Realizing innovative applications based on SAP technology – that’s what the “Hack2Build – Beyond a Hackathon” event is all about. The latest edition of the SAP event, which took place from April 13 to 20, 2021, was subtitled “SAP S/4HANA Cloud Side-by-Side Extension – Extend the heart of the Digital Enterprise.” With a side-by-side extension for SAP S/4HANA and SAP Sales Cloud that supports the sales quote process through integration with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, IBsolution beat the other participants to win #Hack2Build.

“We created a showcase for a side-by-side extension that not only brings SAP S/4HANA and SAP Sales Cloud together with SAP Business Technology Platform, but also implements an Office365 integration,” said Andreas Del Galdo, project manager at IBsolution and leader of the #Hack2Build team. “With this solution, on the one hand, we can make our internal sales processes more efficient, and on the other hand, we can offer our customers a product that allows them to directly process sales quotes without wasting time on administrative activities.”

Sales quote creation as a trigger

The side-by-side extension implemented by IBsolution between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform is designed to improve collaboration in the sales process by automatically triggering certain administrative activities when a sales quote is created in SAP S/4HANA or SAP Sales Cloud. This gives companies more time to deal with tenders.

Integration with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Teams ensures that a SharePoint folder is created with the relevant specifications and a Teams channel is opened for further technical and/or sales discussion. This allows the sales staff involved to start working on the content immediately. The corresponding app consolidates all relevant information on SAP Business Technology Platform and presents it clearly in a dashboard.

Event triggers actions in SharePoint and Teams

From a technological perspective, the process runs as follows: The creation of a new sales quote in SAP S/4HANA or SAP Sales Cloud is sent as an event to SAP Event Mesh on SAP Business Technology Platform. In the case of SAP Sales Cloud, this runs via Cloud Integration Flow. The back-end app implemented with SAP Cloud Application Programming Model reacts to this event and retrieves the necessary information about the sales quote, the customer and the responsible sales employee from SAP S/4HANA or SAP Sales Cloud. In addition, a folder is created in Microsoft SharePoint and a team is created in Microsoft Teams with multiple channels. This provides the administrative prerequisites for the further sales quote process in an automated manner.
