High transparency in personnel planning at Phoenix Contact

The Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG has been planning its personnel with AGIMENDO.personnel, a software of the Heilbronn-based SAP consultancy IBsolution, since mid-2018. The overriding goal pursued with the new planning solution is an increase in transparency and control options in the planning process.

 

Phoenix Contact, worldwide market leader and innovation leader in electrical engineering, offers its customers solutions for the future with trend-setting connection and automation technology. For example, Phoenix Contact is active in traffic infrastructure, electric mobility and renewable energies. In the search for a solution for activity-based personnel planning, they found AGIMENDO.personnel - a software from IBsolution, which they decided to introduce at the beginning of 2018 after intensive research. The reasons for this are based on three pillars:

  • With AGIMENDO.personnel Phoenix Contact benefits from a large share of predefined and proven functions and processes for personnel planning.

  • AGIMENDO.personnel guarantees a fast implementation: Within four months all areas were individually set up and the system was used live by Phoenix Contact.

  • An important workflow when carrying out an internal company transfer (shift), where the receiving department approves the transfer, could be optimally implemented with AGIMENDO.personnel.

  • Further advantages were the innovative SAPUI5 user interfaces and the simple use of the results in the separate and central SAP BW of the controlling department. After the installation of the AGIMENDO.personnel software, a team of employees from Phoenix Contact and IBsolution successfully implemented the customer-specific adjustments.

The result

By switching from the previously value-oriented personnel planning to a now activity-based planning on the level of FTE values (full time equivalent), both a simplification and a refinement of the planning process was achieved. With the activity-based planning, changes in the number of Phoenix Contact employees are now planned instead of absolute target values.

With AGIMENDO.personnel, Phoenix Contact enables the responsible team leaders to maintain their teams directly and independently in the application. This achieves the highest possible transparency and responsibility for the team leaders. The following measures are available: Entry, exit, extension, transfer (shift), change of employee subgroup, change of working time, change active <> inactive, blanket increase and blanket reduction. Each measure can then be analyzed in reporting and its effects evaluated. Already in the first week in which AGIMENDO.personnel was live at Phoenix Contact, the planners maintained more than 1,000 individual measures.
