With the conversion of customer and vendor data to the SAP business partner model through IBsolution, PROFI AG, based in Darmstadt, Germany, has laid a decisive cornerstone for the migration to SAP S/4HANA.
With the planned migration of its SAP systems from SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA, PROFI Engineering Systems AG creates the basis for an even more flexible adaptation of its business processes to the requirements of its customers. However, before this migration can be carried out, a number of prerequisites must be met, for which the company has commissioned the SAP consultant IBsolution.
The first step involved converting existing debtors and creditors to the SAP Business Partner in the SAP ERP system. In a three and a half month project carried out by IBsolution, several thousand master data records (customers and vendors) from originally 16 account groups were transferred to the new data model. After simplifying the existing customizing and “cleaning up” unused account groups, three business partner groups and three business partner roles remained, into which the existing data could be transferred after previous cleansing.
The project was divided into five phases. First of all, the actual situation including all customer-specific adjustments (customizing) was determined in an initial workshop. Subsequently, new number ranges were defined, necessary customizations in the target landscape were defined and an individual process model for the implementation of the project was developed. The identification of necessary data cleansing activities was also part of phase 1. In the second phase, it was necessary to implement the already defined customizations in the target landscape, without which migration in the customer’s interest would not have been possible. In phase 3, tests were carried out first on the development system including all necessary functional tests, and then on the QA system with user and integration tests. After the training of the key users carried out in phase 4, the final project phase saw the go-live with the migration to the ERP production system.
